I've been in a bit of a funk, with regards to carving. Pressure at
work, a two-week long cold, that sort of thing.
But I have to say, I'm in the midst of a carving project, and I'm
really really enjoying myself. Knowing that I was a vegetarian,
Wassamatta_U gave me a couple of slabs of Soy Bologna, and this stuff
certainly is a treat to carve. (Okay, it may not have been Soy
Bologna.....but that's the story I'm sticking with!)
I'm wondering what folks are up to, carving-wise. Are you carving
much? Pondering, but not yet carving? Hoping that someone else
plants some beautifully carved letterboxes?
The funny thing, is that the carving that I'm working on was
commissioned by my sister, as a party favor for her three-year-old
daughter's birthday party. I'll be stamping this image on little
t-shirts for the kids. I don't have an particular plans for planting
this one in the wide, wide world. Usually, I carve a stamp, and then
don't worry if it gets lost of not. But, for some reason, I'm
hesitant to put this one out, just yet.
My Art Deco Oakland Box was probably one of my nicest carvings and
certainly the nicest logbook that I had ever made, and I think three
or four people found that one, before it fell victim (literally) to
the wrecking ball. I hope to replace that one with a related image,
but goodness knows when that will happen. Letterboxing has become a
bit trickier for me and Robb, because of the physical limitations he's
dealing with as a result of his spinal cord injury. So, we're not
hunting as many boxes, or planting as much. We probably could and
should pick up the pace on the planting.....but that means that I have
to be better organized!
Anyway, all this is a long way of asking:
What are all you up to? (And don't you want to plant some lovely
drive-by letterboxes in and around Alameda County?)
Cheers,
Lisascenic

I've been doing some postal letter boxing lately... may plant a stamp or two
when they come back in. I have a series of boxes I've been thinking of, and
they will be drive-bys, but haven't put the metal to the rubber just yet...
I did a little letterboxing when we were in Southern CA (specifically
Pasadena) over the holidays - and picked up the Da Kook Kat's dinosaur
series in Santa Nella during our drive down. These great boxes have
inspired me to get some carving done and do some more planting - and
finding!
Looking forward to seeing more of all of your boxes in 2007!
